The Great Thanksgiving

Those gathered may stand or kneel.

The Spirit of God be with you.

And also with you.

Lift your hearts to heaven.

Where Christ Sophia reigns.

Let us give thanks to God.

It is right to offer thanks and praise.

It is right, indeed, and a clear and present joy to give you thanks most loving God, through Christ Sophia, who frees us from all that keeps us from you and, bringing life from death, is with us always, one of us, yet entirely of God.

Though our hearts are often far from you and our minds fixed on partial truths, you love us and sent your beloved son to bring us into light and liberation.  We thank you for your generous being, your willingness to mother us, to father us, through brokenness, toward wholeness.  In Jesus Christ, you broke the hold of death and ignorance over us and this fair world, making all things new and all peoples one with you, so one with one another.

Therefore, with all the angels and archangels, all the mystics and saints, all the good and holy creatures who yearn to see your face, joyfully we praise you and say:

Holy, Holy, Holy

God of freedom and grace,

All creation is full of your glory,

Hosanna in the highest,

Blessed the one who comes

to declare your presence

through all of time, in every place.

We turn now, Giver of life, to these offerings of bread and wine.  In the fullness of your mercy, and through the power of your Spirit, may they become for us the body and blood of Christ Sophia, the One who frees us,

Who, on the night that he was betrayed, took bread, blessed it and giving thanks offered it to those who were with him, saying:

Take, eat, this is my body, which is given for you.  Do this to remember me.

After supper he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he blessed the cup and shared it with them saying:

Drink this, all of you.  This is the cup of my blood, the blood of the new promise among us, which is shed for you and for all, to forgive sins.  As often as you drink it, remember me.

Therefore God of all creation, we lift up these gifts, your self-given offering, poured out for love in this bread and wine, and one with all people of all time, celebrate your transforming act of healing and liberation.

Through God, with God, in God, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory is yours, almighty Father, all powerful Mother, now and forever.

Amen. Amen.  Come Christ Sophia.

The Communion

And now, as Christ Sophia bids us, we pray

Our Father, who art in heaven

Hallowed be thy name,

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done,

On earth, as it is in heaven,

Give us this day our daily bread,

And forgive us our trespasses

As we forgive those who trespass against us

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil,

For thine is the kingdom, and

The power and the glory,

Now and forever.  Amen.

Or

Our Mother, with us on earth

Holy is your name,

Your true reign come,

Your will be done,

Within us, as it is within you,

Give us this day our daily bread,

And forgive us our sins,

As we forgive those whose sins

Have oppressed us

And lead us not into confusion,

But enlighten us with your wisdom,

For yours is freedom and power,

Beauty and grace,

Now, and forever.  Amen.

The priest breaks the bread in silence and then says

The bread we break shares in the body of Christ Sophia.

We who are many are one body, as we all share the one bread.

The priest may lift the cup and says:

The cup of blessing for which we give thanks shares in the blood of Christ Sophia.

The Invitation

Bread and wine; the gifts of God for the people of God.

May we who share these gifts be one in Christ Sophia.

All present are invited to share communion.

The Body of Christ, given freely for you.  Amen.

The Blood of Christ, offered freely for you.  Amen.

Prayer After Communion.

Most loving God, healing and freeing, we give you thinks for this taste of your glory.

Through Christ Sophia, and with all your saints, we offer ourselves and our lives to your service.

Send us out in the power of your Spirit, to be your heart and your hands in the world.  We ask this through Christ Sophia, who frees us that we might freely give to others. Amen.

The Dismissal

The priest offers a final blessing.

May God, who made us to be one in the wholeness of freedom, the fullness of peace, and the abundance of love, be with you, now and always.  Amen.

May God be with us.

And with our spirits.

Go in Peace.

We go in the name of Christ Sophia.
