Seven Glorious Mysteries of the Holy Rosary |
First Glorious Mystery:The Empty TombAnd very early in the morning, the first day of the week, the women come to the sepulchre, the sun being now risen. And they said one to another: Who shall roll us back the stone from the door of the sepulchre? And looking, they saw the stone rolled back. And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed with a white robe: and they were astonished. Who saith to them: Be not affrighted; you seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified: he is risen, he is not here, behold the place where they laid him Mk 16:2-6
Prayer:
Second Glorious Mystery:The Appearance to Mary MagdaleneMary turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing; and she knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus saith to her: Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, thinking it was the gardener, saith to him: Sir, if thou hast taken him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. Jesus saith to her: Mary. She turning, saith to him: Rabboni (which is to say, Master). Jesus saith to her: Do not touch me, for I am not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brethren, and say to them: I ascend to my Father and to your Father, to my God and your God. Jn 20:14-17
Prayer:
Third Glorious Mystery: On the Road to Emmaus
And their eyes were opened, and they knew him: and he vanished out of their sight. And they said one to the other: Was not our heart burning within us, whilst he spoke in this way, and opened to us the scriptures? And rising up, the same hour, they went back to Jerusalem: and they found the eleven gathered together, and those that were staying with them, and they told what things were done in the way; and how they knew him in the breaking of the bread. Lk. 24:31-35.

Fourth Glorious Mystery: The Appearance to the Disciples in Galilee
He saith to them: Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and you shall find. They cast therefore; and now they were not able to draw it, for the multitude of fishes. That disciple therefore whom Jesus loved, said to Peter: It is the Lord. Simon Peter, when he heard that it was the Lord, girt his coat about him, (for he was naked,) and cast himself into the sea. But the other disciples came in the ship, (for they were not far from the land, but as it were two hundred cubits,) dragging the net with fishes. As soon then as they came to land, they saw hot coals lying, and a fish laid thereon, and bread. Jesus saith to them: Bring hither of the fishes which you have now caught. Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land, full of great fishes, one hundred and fifty-three. And although there were so many, the net was not broken. Jesus saith to them: Come, and dine. And none of them who were at meat, durst ask him: Who art thou? knowing that it was the Lord. And Jesus cometh and taketh bread, and giveth them, and fish in like manner. This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to his disciples, after he was risen from the dead. Jn 21:6-14

Prayer
ClosingAfter the last decade say the following:Salve ReginaHail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, Our Life, Our Sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Earth, to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, O most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
V:/ Pray for us O Holy Mother of God, R:/ That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Ancient Chant Prayer In Honor of the Holy Theotokos
We see the holy Virgin as a brilliant luminary enlightening those who live in darkness; for having kindled the Immaterial Light, she leads us to the knowledge of God and fills our minds with radiance, so that she is worthily praised in these words: Hail, O Beam of the Mystical Sun; hail, O Radiance of the Light Without Setting! Hail, Lightning-Flash that brightens the soul; hail, Thunder-Clap that strikes down the foes! Hail, for you have raised the many-lighted Star; hail, for you have opened the many-coursed Stream! Hail, O you who traced the Living Model of the Pool; hail, O you who erased the mark of error! Hail, Flowing Water that cleanses the consciousness; hail, Holy Vessel overflowing with joy! Hail, O Fragrance of the Sweetness of Christ; hail, O Life of the Mystical Banquet! Collect Because God wished to grant release from all the ancient debts, the One Who pays our dues came down to those who had spurned all grace. Our obligations were cancelled, and all of us cried out: Alleluia! Amen.
By singing praise to your maternity, we all exalt you as a Spiritual Temple, O Theotokos! For the One Who dwelt within your womb, the Lord Who holds all things, sanctified you, glorified you and taught all people to sing to You: Hail, O Tabernacle of God the Word; hail, Holy One, more holy that the Saints! Hail, O Ark that the Spirit has gilded; hail, Inexhaustible Treasure of Life! Hail, Precious Crown of Righteousness; hail, Sacred Glory of the reverent! Hail, Unshakable Tower of the Church; hail, Unbreachable Wall of God’s realm! Hail, O you through whom the trophies are raised; hail, O you through whom the enemies are routed! Hail, O Healing of My Body; hail, O Salvation of My Soul!
Collect
O Mother Worthy of All Praise, you who have given birth to the Word, the Holiest of the Holy, accept this present offering, deliver all people from every affliction, and save from the future sorrow those who cry out to you: Alleluia! Amen. |
For Prayer with the Franciscan Crown A Rosary of Seven Decades |
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR SAYING THE ROSARYBishop Michael AdamsPrayer of IntentionBegin by having an intention in mind for the rosary. This intention may be stated as part of the following prayer. We who gather to pray this rosary do have in our minds and hearts the following intentions: (Here take a few moments of silence allows all to clarify their intentions). We ask that these intentions may bring forth the results desired, according to Your will. Amen.
Holding the cross in the right hand (if right handed), with the rest of the rosary in the left hand, bless yourself with the Invocation: Holding the cross in the right hand (if right handed), and with the rest of the rosary draped across the left hand, begin with this Prayer of Saint Francis:
On the first bead after the cross say the "Our Father":
Many people prefer to use an alternative prayer to affirm that God is beyond all gender:
Our Mother, with us on earth, holy is your name, your true reign come, your will be done, within us as it is within you. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those whose sisns have oppressed us, and lead us not into confusion, but enlighten us with your wisdom. Amen.
On the next three beads say the "AVE MARIA":
After the third AVE MARIA hold the chain and say the GLORIA PATRI:
Some may want to substitute the traditional prayer: “Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is how and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.”
Name the mystery and read the thoughts and prayer that follow each one. Begin with the OUR FATHER on the bead just before the medal and the AVE MARIA on the next ten beads following the medal. On the chain following these ten beads, say the GLORIA PATRI.
Then, name the next mystery and proceed exactly as above until all the mysteries have been said—that is say the OUR FATHER on the single bead, then the ten AVE MARIAs, then on the chain the GLORIA PATRI, then the next mystery. |
